Still Here

All across the continent, ancestral communities that have flourished for centuries are under threat like never before. The combined pressures of modernisation, globalisation, and climate change have led to the dramatic erosion of traditional cultures and lifestyles of many indigenous African communities.
Through stunning photography and evocative writing, I will share the stories of the few remaining communities still following the traditional ways of their ancestors before they, too, are lost to history.
The “Still Here” project had two main objectives: to document the culture, rituals, and everyday lives of Africa’s vanishing ancestral communities and to identify and examine the factors that have led to their decline.
To achieve these objectives, I am travelling to meet some of the most at-risk communities across the continent of Africa. Additionally, I am connecting with anthropology professionals to understand the academic research into the causes of the decline of these traditional communities.
