South African Travel Journal: Adventure Guide for Kids

Zwela South Africa Travel Journal is an interactive travel journal created to inspire children aged 7–12 to experience South Africa in a fun, meaningful and memorable way.
Part travel companion, part activity book and part keepsake, the journal encourages kids to become active participants in their adventures. Through creative prompts, activities, maps, journaling pages, checklists and reflection, children are inspired to notice the details, stories and experiences that make South Africa so special.
The journal explores iconic South African experiences including safaris, beaches, mountains, road trips, local food, cultures, languages, conservation, history and natural wonders. Kids are encouraged to draw what they see, write about funny travel moments, record wildlife sightings and practise gratitude along the way.
The journal was created to combine adventure, creativity and learning in a natural and engaging way. It supports literacy, curiosity, observation and connection, while becoming a treasured keepsake families can look back on for years to come. At its heart, the journal is about helping kids feel more present, curious and connected while travelling.
One of the things that makes this journal especially meaningful is the collaboration with Lewyn Maefala, the South African local expert and an inspiring female guide who is making a real difference through conservation education for children. Every Zwela journal is created alongside a strong female collaborator connected to the destination, bringing local knowledge, authenticity and heart to the experience.
Lewyn is the founder of the Bush Babies Project, part of the Transfrontier Africa group — the same organisation behind the incredible all-female anti-poaching unit, the Black Mambas. Her love and knowledge of South African wildlife, conservation and bush education bring an authentic local voice to the journal and help ensure the safari and nature content is rooted in real South African experiences.
Unlike traditional activity books, the journal is experience-led and designed around real family travel. It appeals to both local South African families and international visitors looking for a more meaningful and educational way for children to experience South Africa.
